Job Description:
Job Description Must live within a seventy (70) mile radius of
our Florence, MS office General Summary of the Position: Drives
truck with a low-boy trailer with equipment to and from garage or
storage site to work site and vice versa. Has the ability to
operate construction equipment such as track hoes, bulldozers, and
tractors to load and facilitate the movement of equipment on
various tilt deck and lowboy trailers. Drives other vehicles and/or
configurations as assigned and trained. Has the ability to drive
all vehicle types including Heavy Haul and Low Boy trailers with 8
or more axles. Essential Functions: (Essential functions, as

following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This

possible duties that may be assigned.) Performs daily truck
equipment inspections and all required safety equipment including,
but not limited to; tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water,
etc. before each shift to assure equipment is safe for usage.
Completes written daily inspection reports as required. Submits a
request for maintenance for any repair items. Maintains truck logs
or time recordings as required by the state, federal, and company
policies and regulations. Assist with proper and legal loading of
materials and equipment for transport. Weighs in and out at scales
for load ticketing and legal weight compliance. Operate truck
safely to and from the project destination. Maintains telephone
and/or radio contact with the foreman for instructions. Load,
unload and secure equipment on various trailer types. Secures
equipment using various chains, ratchets, and binders. Performs
post-trip vehicle inspections of vehicles driven, equipment moved,
and trailers towed, noting any defects or deficiencies in writing.
Performs all safety procedures required by governmental agencies
and those established by Hemphill Construction Company, Inc. The
employee may be sent to other job-site locations to perform duties
as required. All other duties as assigned, such as but not limited
to lawn maintenance/landscaping around main office and yard areas,
emptying trash bins, and other general labor work in the
shop/yard/main office. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Valid Commercial Driver---s License: Class A with Hazmat and Tanker
endorsements. Thorough knowledge in the proper use of trucks,
trailers, construction equipment, and related materials and
supplies used in heavy construction work. Thorough knowledge of
applicable safety precautions. Ability to work under general
supervision according to work schedule. Ability to meet attendance
schedule with dependability and consistency. Good communication
skills to coordinate workflow with other crew members. Required
Education, Training and Experience: High school diploma or general
education degree (GED); or One to three years--- related experience
and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience. Work Environment: Regularly works near moving
mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement
weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Must
be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and
lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and
to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object. Requires good
manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb
coordination. Noise level is generally loud. Excellent stamina is
