  Salary: Starting at $17.95 an hour, increases with experience and education
  Hours: 40 hours a week, hybrid work schedule, requires some weekends for community engagment activities
  Travel: Devereux New Jersey will provide a company van for transporting the youth for community engagement
  The Recreation Specialist reports directly to the Program Director. The position is a hybrid position. Requiring travel to 7 treatment homes in Monmouth Ocean Counties throughout the week for youth community engagement.

    Design, create and implement recreation and social activities for children and youth with behavioral and emotional challenges

    Encourage youth to engage in a variety of recreation and leisure activities that focus onskill acquisition and community integration

    Be creative and resourceful in planning activities in order to successfully engage the youth
    
    
  • 
    Communicate and collaborate with Child Family Team members, attend meetings, enter engagement notes in our electronic database and complete all required documentation
    
    
    **Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children and youth to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate's understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.
    Qualifications
    The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    • 
      Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Service or related degree OR High School Diploma with three years' experience
      
      
    • 
      If High School Diploma, three years' experience providing direct care to children/youth in behavioral health care setting or similar.
      
      
    • 
      Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      
      
    • 
      Be energetic, creative, and represent yourself as a positive role model
      
      
    • 
      A strong passion for working with and helping children and youth with emotional and behavioral challenges
