Responsible for all preventative maintenance and repair of planer to maintain top efficiency.Essential Functions:Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSAsThorough knowledge of planer machine and planning operationKeep planer in top operating conditionPerform all maintenance and setup on planerAssist production operations in the planer departmentTrain feeder/setup operator in safe operation of planer and how to adjust and clear breakupsOrder and maintain spare parts specific to planer and planning mill areaSharpen planer and chipper knives as neededKeep working areas cleanConsistently keep a production level work paceOther duties as neededQualifications:Knowledge of lumber sizesMinimum one-year experience in lumber manufacturingAble to troubleshoot and perform all maintenance repairsMake necessary adjustments for proper machine setupIdentify and troubleshoot planer machine defectsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work in a safe and efficient manner individually and in a team environmentSolid background in heavy industry and constructionKnowledge of lumber manufacturing and welding are considered assetsPhysical Requirements:Move safely, quickly, and perform duties with repetitious movement. Sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs.Frequent climbing stairsFrequent and repetitious use of upper extremities (i.e. shoulders, arms, wrists, hands) in gripping, turning, manipulating objects of various sizes, shapes, weightsRepetitious bending, kneeling or stretchingRepetitious pushing and pulling 20 lbs. at 30" working heightOccasional walking short distancesOccasional lifting 50 lbs. from floor to 30" working heightOccasional pushing, pulling, lifting 100 lbs. to 30" working height with the use of a dolly or hoist heightEnvironmental Conditions:Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions.
