Overview:We are very proud to announce that C Spire was named by Forbes as one of America's Best Midsize Employers in 2021!(Click HERE to view our blog post on the announcement)*This position can be filled as a I, II, III, depending on candidate experience and company needs at the time of hiring*The Network Admin, Core works as part of small team to provide networking support for Wi-Fi, LAN, and WAN in an ISP environment. Build plans and design networks. Elicit, analyze and document the business needs of project stakeholders in developing detailed business requirements for new and existing systems and/or network elements. Use communication, analytical and problem-solving skills during the system development life cycle to maximize the benefit of Network systems and company resources.Responsibilities:

  • Install/Configure and support managed Wi-Fi networks.
  • Install and configure various networking equipment primarily in a Cisco environment.
  • Performance analysis upgrades and capacity planning on systems.
  • Possess knowledge of and/or demonstrate ability to learn the Company business processes and Information Technology tools, products and environments.
  • Design, implement and maintain company systems.
  • Administer and monitor the day-to-day activities of the systems to correct problems and tune performance in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Perform systems analysis, upgrades, and capacity planning on company systems to assist with strategy and growth.
  • Monitor, support and operate C Spire's network infrastructure and managed customer solutions
  • Interact and coordinate with appropriate C Spire personnel and vendors to facilitate problem-solving and provide quality systems through systems design, troubleshooting, and operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.Qualifications:
    • LEVEL I:
      • REQUIRED
        • At least one year of professional experience in a technical role required.
        • Applicable entry-level knowledge of common network technologies at OSI Layer 2 required.
        • Strong oral and written communications skills required.
        • Background must demonstrate the ability to operate within a complex, dynamic environment.
        • PREFERRED
          • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a relevant technical discipline strongly preferred.
          • CCNA level certification preferred
          • Basic understanding of BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing protocols preferred.
          • Some knowledge of TCP/IP, IPSec, VRRP, HSRP, or SNMP protocols is preferred.
          • Some knowledge of Cisco ASA, Nexus, Catalyst, ISE, Fortinet FortiGate, or F5 BIG-IP is preferred.
          • LEVEL II:
            • REQUIRED
              • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
              • At least two years of Cisco or Juniper routing and switching experience required.
              • Basic understanding of BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing protocols.
              • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining complex networks is required.
              • Strong analytical skills, coupled with a sense of ownership, urgency and drive is required.
              • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
              • PREFERRED
                • Some knowledge of TCP/IP, IPSec, VRRP, HSRP, or SNMP protocols is strongly preferred..
                • Some knowledge of Cisco ASA, Nexus, Catalyst, ISE, Fortinet FortiGate, or F5 BIG-IP strongly preferred.
                • CCNA certification preferred.
                • LEVEL III:
                  • REQUIRED
                    • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
                    • At least three years of Cisco or Juniper routing and switching experience required.

                      • CCNA certification and other related industry certifications are strongly preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS /WORKING CONDITIONS:Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screen. Must be able to lift 65 pounds and work with various hand tools. Must be willing to work flexible schedule, which will include nights and weekends. Frequent overnight and same day travel related to specific projects required. Must reside within 30 minute drive time of the corporate office, due to on-call responsibilities.Note: This is a brief description of Network Admin, Core (I, II, III) responsibilities and is not limited to those described herein.
