FAMILY OPPORTUNITIES SUPERVISOR

The position involves supervision of Family Opportunities direct
staff, management of use of multiple data entry systems,
interviews, counseling, information and referrals, and other
related activities in providing services to eligible applicants
under the various programs provided by the Agency.This position
oversees advocates that help families from every station in life,
and sometimes dire economic backdrops, to ease them through
transitions, hardships, and mentally tough times. This position
assists families in finding the proper opportunities to get the
resources or supplements they need to obtain or sustain
stabilization. This person will also be the link between people
setting and reaching their needs. This position involves
interviewing, counseling, information and referrals, developing and
maintaining case files and the case management, and other related
activities in providing services to eligible applicants under the
various programs by the Agency.
A masters degree from an accredited four-year college or university
with a major in social work, sociology, vocational education,
rehabilitation counseling or a related field or the equivalent in
experience; and one (1) year of supervisory level experience or any
equivalent combination of education and/or experience. A valid
Mississippi Social Work License is required.
Must pass Criminal Background and Child Abuse Child Registry
checks. Must meet state health requirements.
Direct supervision of the Family
Opportunity Advisors (FOA), Family Opportunity Assistants and other
program staff, volunteers, and interns as assigned.
Supervises operations and service
procedures for primarily Head Start and other able to work
applicants of Agency ongoing deep touch case
Oversees FOAs and FOAAs:
Determinations of customers
situation by interviewing client; assessing social information to
identify applicants personal strengths and needs and translate them
into a set of realistic short term needs.
Development of appropriate case
plans with customers to include establishment of achievable goals
using the Child Outcome Planning and Administration (COPA) and
other mandated programmatic systems.
Records detailed case plans and case
notes to provide on-going documentation of the customers movement
through the program and evidence of the strategies and resources
used to impact the desired outcomes.
Providing information and referral
services to persons needing assistance from other social service
Complete Head Start, Low Income Home
Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Community Services Block Grants
(CSBG), Emergency Solutions Grant, City of Jackson Emergency
Services Program, CMPDD Transportation and other
Ensure electronic records of
families are maintained and up to date including, but not limited
to, requirements for: CSBG Standards; Head Start standards as it
relates to eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment,
attendance, family, health, and nutrition services; and LIHEAP
Maintains accurate and up-to-date
case files. Ensure files are maintained in one central location and
filed in alphabetical order as well as all sites required under
Maintains documentation of services
provided through entries in COPA and mandated programmatic
Monitors and/or follows-up on
applicants progress periodically, as prescribed and/or
Enter and update all customer data
and follow up information in accordance with Standard Operating
Procedure (SOP) and enter into COPA database.
Ensures families have access to all
needed resources bother internally and external.
Ensures on-going relationship
building with families. This could include conducting home visits
to ensure opportunities are met.
Oversee ROMA practices including
reviewing logic models, compile and submit target reports to Vice
President on outputs by the customers; and/or, on the customers
outcomes in the program to the supervisor as scheduled.
Ensures compliance of meeting set
outcome and service targets set by Vice President.
Show top customer service skills
including returning customer calls in a timely manner and schedules
follow-up appointments when necessary.
Acquires and submits monthly success
stories from Family Opportunities staff and coordinates
recommendation of Boot Strap Awardees in a timely
