Eaton's Aerospace Sector, is currently seeking a Buyer to join our team. This position is based at our Jackson, MS location.

Position Overview:

The Buyer position will focus on Jackson, MS Aerospace for purchases and programs based in North America. This position will maintain an essential balance between plant operations, supplier quality, engineering changes, delivery expectations, and cost reduction metric opportunities.

Eaton's Fuel and Motion Control Systems Division of the Aerospace Group has an opening for a Buyer. This position is based in Jackson, MS. The Jackson facility has approximately 500 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacturing and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.

In this function you will:

  • Procurement - identifies qualified suppliers, issues RFQs, and evaluates supplier reliability; procures complex items (material, parts, supplies, and equipment), where detailed specification is involved, and following established purchasing policies and procedures and optimizing price, delivery, and terms; typically manages $5-10 million annual spend
  • Negotiation - negotiates price, terms, quality, delivery, and replenishment strategy, claims, etc., supporting required material flow and supplier performance and relationship development
  • Supplier Management - proactively monitors supplier performance (order placement, order changes, order performance, etc.); proactively identifies and executes solutions to ensure material flow to customer demand; manages issue resolution and recovery; develops/builds supplier relationships; effectively mitigates and escalates related risk to minimize impact to business/material flow and customer commitments
  • Commodity Management Support/Cost Out/Sourcing Transitions - supports development of strategy for assigned commodities; advocates and influences supplier selection and sourcing process; identifies strategic cost out opportunities; leads activities supporting supplier transitions - supplier approval process, spec/print package, RFQ, market tests, cost estimates, and other related activities; mitigates cost up challenges and maximizes cost out opportunities
  • Building Organizational Capability - partners with global tactical support team to maximize accountability and tactical execution and supports partner buyer development and building organizational/functional capability; provides tactical execution oversight and direction to ensure tactical execution; develops meaningful relationships with other Supply Chain and Functional Team Members across the site and business - Commodity Mgmt., Supplier Development, Plant Operations, Customer Service, Quality, Engineering, EH&S, etc.
  • Continuous Improvement - works to drive continuous improvement in material quality and delivery; uses data to support decision making and related improvements; initiates and actively supports continuous improvement opportunities; participates in rapid improvement events
  • Performs other related duties as required

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee or Refugee.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future
  • No relocation is offered for this position. Only candidates who reside within a 60 mile radius of the Jackson, MS facility will be considered

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in supply chain management, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or business administration.
  • MBA
  • Knowledge or experience in a manufacturing environment and/or regarding machining processes.
  • Supplier Management and Development
  • Knowledge of Aerospace industry, complex machined materials management, lean manufacturing, MRP/ERP, and Advanced Replenishment Strategies.
  • 2 years of appropriate supply chain experience or recent college graduate with related intern experience.
