Job Description:

In this role, students completing internships and field placements will become a part of our team and learn how we endeavor to serve Mississippi's children and families. We are looking for enthusiastic interns to join our Administrative Departments (Accounting, Development, Human Resources, IT, Legal, Training, and Public Relations) and provide creative ideas to help achieve our goals. Administrative undergraduate student interns must be enrolled in an undergraduate level program through an accredited college/university. The college or university must have an agreement with Canopy Children's Solutions that outlines the student's learning experience as well as the roles and responsibilities of both the college/university and Canopy. The chief objective of the undergraduate administrative internship is to provide the student with an opportunity to actively engage in experiences working on a wide variety of organizational projects and training opportunities that will help build your resume of skills. In this role, you will provide support on various tasks as they arise as well as administrative duties which could include doing mail merges, data entry, answering phone calls and the creation of PowerPoint presentations. Your insightful contributions will help develop, expand and maintain Canopy's mission and values. This internship will help you acquire targeted skills and provide you with knowledge of various departmental strategies in a non-profit setting. Ultimately, you will gain broad experience and should be prepared to enter any fast-paced work environment upon completion of this internship. Students must possess excellent oral and written presentation skills, maturity, self-motivation, and be comfortable working with diverse professionals. Reliability and responsibility is a must. Students must be able to integrate into our vibrantly inclusive and passionate team, and be able to be a quick learner, prioritize and manage a myriad of tasks at once. Students must be able to wear many hats and thrive in scenarios where you are given big goals and lots of independence. Experience in an office environment and some experience with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred. The available internship location is for our Administrative Office located in Jackson, MS. This opportunity is an unpaid internship. All opportunities are based upon availability, and are extended on a first-come, first-served basis. All interns are required to attend a mandatory 40 hours of New Employee Orientation before working in a designated department. Orientation hours may count towards the total required program hours. Each student is required to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week which can be broken up among 2-3 days/week. Interns must be at least 18 years of age and in good standing with their educational institution. Internship applications are accepted year-round. This internship is not clinical anddoes not meet requirements for clinical hours or clinical supervision needed for state licensure (e.g. LMSW, LPC, PhD, PsyD, LCSW, or LMFT).

Responsibilities: Current students actively pursuing undergraduate degree preferably in Accounting, PR and Development, Communications, IT, Criminal Justice, or Leadership and Supervision with and emphasis in Human Resources. Students must satisfactorily complete goals as outlined by university affiliates and their assigned site supervisor.
