    Job Summary:
    The MIND Center Research Recruitment Coordinator plans, manages, coordinates, and delivers community outreach, educational and related recruitment activities aimed at recruitment and retention of participants in MIND Center research projects. Develops and implements recruitment/retention policies, procedures, and initiatives and tracks recruitment/retention progress and achievement of targeted recruitment goals across MIND Center research studies.

    Education & Experience

    Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Communications, Nursing, or related field and five years of related experience in clinical research, participant recruitment/retention processes, project planning, budgeting, and resource management. Experience cannot be substituted for educational requirement.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    Experience in identifying, creating, and cultivating meaningful partnerships with community professionals and community organizations and ability to leverage these relationships to increase referrals to The MIND Center's research programs. Skilled at working with diverse communities with a flexible, positive, and friendly approach. Knowledge of recruitment strategies and development of marketing materials aimed at research recruitment in collaboration with study center and UMMC Office of Marketing and Communications. Excellent communication, public speaking and relationship skills. Ability to develop and implement recruitment strategies. Demonstrated leadership skills and project management experience working with large, complex research projects or similar projects. Self-motivated and self-directed to work independently toward short and long-term goals to ensure research objectives are accomplished. Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Ability to interact effectively with study participants, research faculty/staff, study sponsors, MIND Center leadership and federal regulators. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team to meet program enrollment targets. Ability to proficiently manage time and resources. Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural, equity, and health-related issues. Knowledge of research protocols.

    Responsibilities:
    • Collaborates with MIND Center leadership to establish short and long-term recruitment and retention goals. Develops policies and procedures, monitors and evaluates effectiveness, and recommends and implements changes as necessary.
    • Implements strategies and tactics to drive recruitment and retention of study participants including, but not limited to, traditional marketing (print, radio, TV), direct mail and email marketing, text and call campaigns, community outreach, educational seminars, conference and event exhibits, and other events and activities where participant recruitment may be possible.
    • Serves as a community liaison, creating and maintaining linkages with faith-based, non-profit, educational, health care, and other community organizations to raise awareness regarding the research studies available at The MIND Center.
    • In concert with MIND Center leadership and the UMMC Office of Communications and Marketing, manages internal and external communications activities pertaining to the promotion of research programs and services including advertising, marketing and media relations.
    • Develops, implements, and participates as a speaker in community outreach and educational programs attended by the targeted audience and focused on recruitment and retention of participants in MIND Center research studies.
    • Develops relationships with contacts and maintains accurate contact information, identifies potential participants, and develops and implements tactics and strategies to reach the participant recruitment goals.
    • Identifies and resolves issues related to study awareness and recruitment, including proactive planning to anticipate and resolve recruitment issues, develops recruitment corrective action plans, and communicates resolutions in a timely fashion.
    • Prepares reports, summaries, proposals, and/or papers on recruitment status and study findings.

      Requires frequent working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, constant travelling to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, constant work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, frequent driving, occasional kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
