To correlate existing laboratory history or clinical information with microscopic findings. Education & Experience Educational requirements to meet American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certification Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: ASCP Board of Registry Cytotechnologist Certification or eligible for certification. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Responsibilities Prepares, stains, and examines specimens for study to detect minute abnormalities in the shape, color, or size of a cell. Conducts evaluations to detect abnormal hormone conditions and other pathological diseases processes. Diagnosis negative slides and refers atypical, inconclusive, or positive cases for further evaluation; confers with supervisors and other relevant personnel on an ongoing basis about cases. Maintains accurate records and documentation of samples and analysis to avoid patient mix-up. Performs and records preventative maintenance and function verification of microscope and other equipment. Ensures compliance with workplace safety, environmental, and/or infection control practices. Performs other duties as assigned.
