JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Physician – Emergency Medicine • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Lexington, MS • Service Setting: Hospital • Coverage Type: Clinical Only • Coverage Period: July 1, 2025 – Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: 12-hour physician shifts (24 hours of MD coverage daily) COVERAGE DATES • July 1, 2025 (dependent on credentialing) • Ongoing, open-ended assignment • Immediate start upon credentialing completion • Flexible schedule available • Two physicians needed PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: All ages • Patient Volume/Census: Approx. 19,000 annually (~52/day) • Case Mix: General emergency medicine FACILITY INFORMATION • EMR System: Epic • Support Staff Available: 10 hours daily of NP/PA coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES • General emergency medicine procedures • Advanced airway management • Wound care and laceration repair JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active Mississippi license required • Board: BC/BE in Emergency Medicine or relevant specialty • DEA: Active DEA Certification required • Certifications: BLS, ACLS preferred • Experience: Minimum 2 years of ED experience preferred • Other Qualifications: Proficiency with Epic EMR strongly preferred DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide emergency care to a diverse patient population • Work 12-hour shifts alongside NP/PA support • Accurately document all encounters in Epic • Collaborate with nursing and advanced practice staff • Adhere to hospital policies and emergency care protocols Top Reasons to Choose a Locum Tenens Assignment Access professional development resources and educational programs offered by different facilities, staying updated with the latest medical practices and guidelines.
