Job Description First Connect Health is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Jackson, Mississippi. Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 01/19/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Position Overview The RN will work on 5 South – Hematology/Oncology, a 32-bed Med/Surg unit caring for hem/onc and chemotherapy patients in a high-acuity, Level 1 trauma environment. Required Skills & Experience - Minimum 2 years RN experience - Level 1 trauma experience required - BLS Required. - Experience in large facilities with high-acuity and surgical patient populations - Comfortable managing lines, chest tubes, and complex patients - Hem/Onc and chemotherapy experience preferred (training provided if needed) - Ability to manage heparin drips - Amiodarone may be initiated, then patient transferred to cardiac unit Cardiac drips managed on 3 South only Unit Details - Unit: 5 South – Hematology/Oncology - Beds: 32 - Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:5; may increase to 1:6 depending on census and acuity (adjusted down for higher-acuity patients) - Patient Population: Hematology/Oncology, chemotherapy patients - Oncology Certification: Not required (hem/onc experience preferred) Charting System: EPIC (EPIC proficiency required) Floating - Floating required within skill set to all Med/Surg units - Higher-acuity patients assigned to core staff Job id: 992785 About First Connect Health At First Connect Health, we take pride in being a Joint Commission–certified healthcare staffing agency, headquartered in Newark, New Jersey.
