Job Description:
The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Infectious Diseases at
University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi is
seeking a full-time academic Pediatric Infectious Diseases
specialist at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to join our
infectious diseases faculty group. Job responsibilities will be
primarily providing inpatient consultations and outpatient clinic
care. Educational development training is a plus but not required.
The Department of Pediatrics at UMMC is committed to providing
excellence in education, clinical care and research. Over 170
faculty members within the department provide clinical support to
the Children’s of Mississippi network in all specialties. Training
for a medical school class of over 150, post-graduates in
categorical pediatrics, medicine/pediatrics, child neurology and
multiple sub-specialty fellowships are supported by the faculty.
Children’s of Mississippi is a referral center for the entire state
of Mississippi with most referrals coming from central part of the
state. UMMC is home to the only hospital in the state devoted
exclusively to the treatment of sick and injured children and
averages 9,000 admissions a year. Children’s of Mississippi
Hospital, which more than doubled its space with the opening of the
Sanderson Tower in November 2020, has 250 beds, which includes a
32-bed pediatric intensive care unit and 107 beds in the state’s
only Level IV NICU. Over 80,000 outpatients are seen in the
pediatric emergency room and outpatient clinics located across the
state. University of Mississippi Medical Center and Children’s of
Mississippi are located in Jackson, the state’s capital. Jackson is
located in the central part of the state, has a temperate climate
year round, and a very affordable cost of living. Multiple
desirable attractions for both indoor and outdoor activities are
located in the metro area and within easy driving distance.
