This unit specializes in orthopedic and postoperative care, including total joint replacements and general medical-surgical overflow patients. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment and brings strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and teamwork skills. Assignment Details - Shift Schedule: 12-hour days, 7a–7p - Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month - Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 of 3 upcoming holidays - Floating: Within skillset to other Med Surg units as needed - Charting System: Epic Systems Corporation – EpicCare Inpatient (2014 Certified EHR Suite) Unit Information - Unit: 5 North Med Surg/Ortho - Beds: 31 - Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:5 (may reach 1:6 for lower acuity) - Common Diagnoses: Orthopedic, postoperative total joints, general Med Surg overflow - Environment: Fast-paced, Level 1 Trauma facility with high surgical and medical acuity - Telemetry: Central monitoring system communicates directly with RNs; all units have tele capability - RT Equipment: CPAP/BiPAP available (RT assists), high-flow O? on 2N Responsibilities - Provide high-quality nursing care to patients on a busy Ortho/Med Surg unit - Manage and monitor postoperative and medical patients, including chest tubes and lines - Administer medications and titrate drips as required (e.g., heparin; may initiate amiodarone before transfer) - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care - Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR Requirements - Experience: Minimum of 2 years recent Med Surg RN experience in an acute care setting - Level 1 Trauma experience required - License: Active RN license (Mississippi or compact) – License to submit required - Certifications: BLS (AHA) required; ACLS preferred for charge RNs - Education: ADN or higher (BSN not required) Why Travel with HumanEdge Health - Competitive pay with weekly direct deposit - Medical, dental, and vision benefits - Personalized recruiter and 24/7 clinical support - Contract flexibility and extension opportunities Apply today to bring your Med Surg expertise to a high-performing Mississippi hospital and make a meaningful difference in patient care!
