Essential Job Functions:
Specific Responsibilities

• Ensure the plants' compliance with all Federal and State regulations, operating permits, and US Silica policies and procedures
• Ensure proper training and documentation is complete for all employees, visitors, and contractors prior to exposure to the hazards of the operations prior to entrance to the plant operations environment Operations
  • Supervise the efficient operations Drying, Milling and Maintenance processes within established parameters
  • Includes production planning for various products and production units, process troubleshooting, and reporting to the Plant Manager and above (as may be required) Process Improvement
    • Identify process bottlenecks and causes of substandard performance to formulate and execute a plan for identifying the root cause and implementing recurrence prevention
    • Involve the operator and maintenance personnel in the process of problem solving and create an environment of inclusion in the process of root cause determination Asset Management
      • Assume "ownership" of the process equipment
      • Work closely with the Maintenance Leadman to ensure preventive maintenance is properly scheduled and performed to ensure that the equipment is operating as designed
      • Lead and support CIP initiatives for cost reduction & increased efficiencies to support the plant process and operations improvements
      • Coordinates the proper use of the JDE software application to manage the tracking and purchase/replenishment of MRO inventory used to maintain plant operations Quality
        • Ensure shipped product meets all customer requirements including product quality parameters and freedom from contamination during production, storage, and loading operations
        • Establish standards and parameters for the operators to utilize to maintain customer specifications
        • Lead, support, and develop the operators to perform process adjustments within established parameters in order to maintain customer specifications Human Resources
          • Manage the Production workforce.
          • Encourage employee participation in problem-solving by actively involving the team to develop and implement Kaizen ideas.
          • Maintain an environment of mutual respect 5S
            • Promotes 5S in all aspects of plant operations and administrative tasks
            • Establishes 5S standards and assigns tasks to the team to maintain a clean and Safe Environment
            • Coordinates and leads the monthly safety walk-through and meetings used to communicate safe processes and team discussion on maintaining and improving a safe working environment Safety/Environmental
              • Follows and promotes adherence to all safety, health, and environmental regulations including but not limited to LOTO and Confined Space Entry Program
              • Ensures that plant personnel and visitors adhere to all company EHS and MSHA policies and regulations
              • Leads the team to identify areas for improvement in safety standards, new policy adoption and the creation of a safety culture
              • Must obtain EPA method nine certifications for the state of Tennessee
              • Must maintain environmental compliance at the plant Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
                • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or other technical area related to Mineral Processing required
                • Some or all of the college educational requirement can be offset with significant operating, maintenance, and supervisory experience in the Mineral Processing field
                • Over 5 years of experience required Knowledge Of:
                  • Mineral Processing
                  • Rotating Equipment (Drum Dryers and Ball Mills)
                  • Mechanical knowledge and aptitude Integrity
