Assistant Manger-Energy Management -Facilities Services
Assists management in institutional energy management,
sustainability, and contracts and with the directing, planning,
coordinating, managing, and analyzing current energy usage and
developing an energy management plan with cost effective energy
utilization. Responsible for keeping the energy management computer
updated, tracking, and reporting utility consumption, and managing
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical
engineering, civil engineering, or related field, plus three years
of experience in energy management, mechanical systems design,
construction and/or maintenance or closely related field, or
equivalent combination of education/experience. Professional
designation of certified energy manager (CEM) preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Valid drivers
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of the practical application of energy management science
and technology. Verbal and written communications skills. Skill in
allocating resources and controlling costs.
- Manages and evaluates scheduling staff. Assumes leadership role
in the absence of the Manager-Energy Management to include managing
the Energy Management and Maintenance Technicians. Assists in
directing, planning, and implementing the energy management program
toward energy conservation.
- Manages the day to day operation of the work control center;
Plans and schedules the work assignments for all Work Control
Center employees; reviews and adjusts work assignments to meet the
schedules on a daily basis.
- Manages UMMC energy management computer program to ensure
comfortable environments for UMMC's patients, visitors, students,
and staff to maximize the benefit of the systems in all three UMMC
- Liaises with maintenance department/operations department
personnel in order to provide optimum facility comfort while
reducing energy consumption levels.
- Manages and troubleshoots by adjusting, controlling, and
monitoring UMMC's energy management computer
schedules/planning/programming. Assists staff with processing
complex service calls (advisement & troubleshooting). Coordinates
with DIS to maintain the energy management system network
connectivity. Develops processes in coordination with energy
management system contractors to manage and report energy
management system changes and testing. Researches and developments
energy management system efficiencies and strategies. Assists in
the management of all energy management system equipment,
monitoring relationships, and contracts.
- Assists in the evaluation and development of reports and
monitors monthly and annual utility costs reported to MDA (monthly)
and IHL (quarterly). Assist in updating the 5 year master plan
annually. Takes a leadership role in this duty in the absence of

improvement plans to ensure the best operation of HVAC and energy
equipment maintenance and maintain the air handler shutdown

computer, and physical facilities maintenance management system.
Assist in providing support for testing, implementation, and
maintenance support for all corporate demand-side initiatives.
Takes a leadership role in this duty in the absence of the

assists with implementing a preventive maintenance program for
energy control systems to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

of the Manager.
