Job Description Join our dynamic Power Distribution Engineering
team as a Distribution Designer, contributing to the growth and
success of our Power Sector. Responsibilities Perform detailed
design work including the preparation of drawings, specifications,
and estimates for review and approval by the responsible engineer.
Provide limited direction to Designers and Technicians on assigned
projects and may act as design leader on projects of minor
complexity. Possess a thorough knowledge of the practices and
procedures in technical matters such as Electrical Engineering,
Instrumentation and Control, Protective Relaying, Transmission
Design, Substation Design, Civil Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Distribution Engineering, Surveying, GIS and Mapping,
and CADD. Prepare manual or computer-assisted design and
construction drawings of a complex nature with neatness and a
minimum of errors. Perform design services requiring a full
understanding of drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
Take a significant role in preparing cost estimates,
specifications, evaluations, and requisitions. Assist in the
preparation of engineering calculations. Coordinate equipment
deliveries and design development to meet project schedules.
Acquire on-site field data to accomplish the design or to monitor
and evaluate equipment performance. May serve as a Project
Coordinator on certain projects. Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical
Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university.
Experience with GIS systems, preferably Smallworld or GWD, and CADD
systems such as AutoCAD. Utility distribution design experience
with a utility or consulting engineering firm. Ability to handle
contacts with clients and other agencies regarding project design
responsibilities. Ability to follow prescribed standards and
procedures. Demonstrated leadership and technical capability in
fulfilling job responsibilities. Must have a clear and valid
driver's license and be at least 21 years of age to drive on
company time. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working
in both field and office environments is preferred. Management may
consider other education and work experience acceptable for
appointment to this position. Work Environment This role involves
working both in the field and office settings. Utilizes
technologies such as GIS systems and CADD for design tasks.
Requires a valid driver's license for travel to project sites. Job
Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of
Raleigh, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is
$23.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits
and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
